Amneh is a Jordanian philanthropic foundation that supports talented females through the degrees they have already earned their way into, and on into work. Each year a cohort of students is selected, and the foundation stays with them from the end of their first year until they graduate, with funding, mentorship and career guidance. The foundation carries the name of the founder’s mother.
Female students at Jordan’s public universities who came up through the public school system, earned their place on the competitive seats, and proved themselves in their first year. They have already done the hardest part on their own. Amneh makes sure the rest of the way stays open, and that it leads somewhere.
Three things, for every year until she graduates. Funding covers tuition and the essential expenses of studying. Mentorship pairs her with someone who is years further along. Career guidance prepares her for the job market: her CV, her interviews, and introductions to people who hire.
Amneh was founded by a son whose mother never got to sit in a classroom, and who made certain all five of her children finished their education. Supporting talented females is how the foundation continues what she started. It is a specific promise rather than a general one, and we would rather keep it well than spread it thin.
To be considered for an Amneh scholarship, all of the following must be true:
- You are a female student who graduated from a public school in Jordan.
- You are enrolled at one of Jordan’s public universities.
- You secured your university place through the competitive seats.
- You have completed your first university year.
- You finished that year with a high GPA.
If you are not sure whether your GPA is in range, apply anyway and we will tell you.
